Philanthropic passion is our family’s legacy

This passion grew into a family endeavor.

The Palmer Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit private family foundation with a deep passion for  WASH (water access, sanitation, and hygiene) and workforce development.

The Foundation has awarded grants to more than 400 nonprofit organizations, primarily in Midwestern and Mid-Atlantic states, as well as countries where family members have lived or traveled.

Founded by Mary “Penny” Palmer Enroth in 1990, she named The Palmer Foundation in honor of her grandfather, Stanton Palmer, the first president of Snap-on Tools, and her father, Rogers Palmer, a former senior vice president of Snap-on Tools. As new generations of family members join the Board, its focus shifts to accommodate their special talents, skills, and interests. To continue this legacy of community philanthropy, the Board vows to support domestic and international grant proposals into perpetuity.

WE BELIEVE

  • The unique and varied perspectives from our Board members are our greatest strength.

  • It is our privilege and responsibility to catalyze change in meaningful, measurable ways wherever we can.

  • Clean, sustainable water supplies create resilient, healthy communities, and we are committed to ensuring that increasing numbers of people in America and in the developing world have access to it.

  • Providing specialized training for those who seek work or are already in the workforce, will create more rewarding careers, secure livelihoods, and stronger communities.
